The Washington, D.C. office of SmithGroup, a nationally acclaimed architecture, interior design, engineering, and planning firm, was awarded a contract to redesign and modernize 1440 New York Avenue, NW, a 220,000 square foot office building that was originally constructed in 1927. The 11-story building, strategically located across from the U.S. Department of Treasury, provides views of the White House, the Pennsylvania Avenue promenade, and the National Mall. 1440 New York Avenue Corporation owns the multi-tenanted property, which is currently occupied by national law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. ING Clarion Partners serves as the Investment Management Advisor.SmithGroup will provide architecture and interior design services under the leadership of principal-in-charge David Varner, AIA, LEED AP, and designer Sven Shockey, AIA, LEED AP.
