WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 02/03/10 -- Naomi Kruger, IIDA, LEED AP, has been named Healthcare Interiors Practice Leader at SmithGroup in Washington, DC. In this role, her responsibilities will include planning, design, architecture and equipment coordination, finishes, and marketing and client management.
Kruger comes to SmithGroup in Washington from the firm's Chicago office where she has spent the last six years creating innovative and engaging healing environments serving clients as project manager, medical planner and designer. Kruger led the development of the Comer Pediatric Emergency Department, a 4-story addition to the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital, where she worked closely with hospital administration, advisory boards and major donors. Other clients have included Sutter Health'sCalifornia Pacific Medical Center Cathedral Hill Hospital, and The University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago Walter Payton Liver Center. Presently, she is a key team member for the renovation and MRI addition at the Naval Hospital Outpatient Clinic at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
Prior to joining SmithGroup, Kruger was a member of HOK's Chicago office in the healthcare architecture practice. Naomi has also served as Chair and Lead Instructor for the Chicago Architecture Foundation high school architecture classes and is an architectural advisor to the Architecture Curriculum Handbook now used in 45 states and nine countries.
Kruger is a Registered Interior Designer and is a member of theInternational Interior Design Association. A Leadership in Energy and Environmental Accredited Professional (LEED AP) with the U.S. Green Building Council, Kruger is a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
