Furniture for the Cure Debuts Alyce Chair

The chair back is cut from a single piece of plantation mahogany and finished in a walnut stain, while the feet are accented with brushed nickel.

When Glenn Midnet lost his mother, Alyce, to breast cancer in 1974, he was just a boy. Inspired by his mother's courage and quiet grace, Midnet grew up to become a successful designer of interiors and furniture, and the owner and CEO of Design Group West.

Now, Midnet is giving back with Furniture for the Cure, a design studio that is donating 10 percent of its proceeds to cancer research. Its first chair, appropriately named Alyce, has been produced by The Platt Collections and can be seen at the manufacturer's showroom during the High Point Market in North Carolina from October 17-24, which also coincides with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The cause's signature awareness ribbon is incorporated into the chair's design as a back cut from a single piece of plantation mahogany finished in walnut stain. The chair's feet are covered in brushed nickel and upholstery options include pink Dupioni silk, platinum and pearl metallic fabric, or COM.
